Help Children See Jesus' Truth In Their Everyday Lives

He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth

So great is his love for those who fear him;

As far as the east is from the west,

So far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Psalm 103 10-12

Satan wants children to think:

  • That God has no idea what troubles them.

  • That he doesn’t want them to have anything good.

  • That he doesn’t care for them.

  • That he judges them.

  • That he isn’t real.

But God says just the opposite in his Word. As we read through the pages of David, Moses, Abraham, Peter and Paul’s lives, we don’t see the Sunday-school version but real people with real struggles and a real God who has real grace for them.

STRATEGIES TO SHARE GOD’S TRUTH AND GRACE WITH YOUR CHILDREN

  1. Be real with them about our own need for Jesus. To tell them the story of how he changed us by forgiving us and compelling us to live for him because he first loved us.

  2. Show them the struggles that the people in the Bible had and how God responded in his mercy.

  3. Listen carefully to your children when they are troubled.

  4. When your children are troubled, share God’s Word that comforts you.

  5. Pray with your children and encourage them to pray in their own words when they are anxious or fearful.

  6. Set aside time with your family every day to read God’s Word together and pray, even if it’s just a few minutes.
