Real Hope Comes From God's Promises
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,
for he who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:23
Even as long as the dry, hot days of Texas summer are, you know for certain that fall will come! And it finally has! It’s such a relief to enjoy the cool weather with all the harvest that fall brings! The same God who created the seasons gives us his promises that he always keeps. This month, we will see how God’s promises give families in any circumstance true hope.
He gives us real hope—as dependable as the changing seasons—that our troubles on this earth will end the day we begin our life with him in Heaven.
And his promise, even as we live on this earth with all of its challenges, gives us true peace because we are completely loved and forgiven by the One who matters most: God himself.
God knows how frail we are when we are faced with threats to relationships, health, finances, and comfort. We tend to pin our hopes on circumstances that do not last. God always keeps his promises, not because we deserve it, but because he loves us!
When I am anxious about something, I automatically go to the “land of what-ifs”—a place where fear overtakes reality. Then I plot to control and fix whatever is going on. Well, you can guess how that works out. As we listen to him instead of our own fears and anxious thoughts, God settles us in the reality of who he is. That is how we can hold fast to the hope we have.
Here are a few of so many promises in the Bible that will give families in any circumstance truth and grace from God:
