Help Your Children Build A Path To Redemption

…joyful thanks to the Father,

who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people

in the kingdom of light.

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness

and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,

in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 1:12-14

It seems like the last thing the world wants us to talk about with our children is the word “sin.” But sin—the hurt we cause others and the hurt done to us—is what fills us with fear, guilt, and hopelessness.

When parents and children sin, we don’t need excuses, ignoring, or more entertainment to keep our minds off of how ugly it is.

We need:

  • Rescue

  • Redemption

  • Forgiveness

  • Hope

  • Light

We need Jesus—life with him, now and forever in his Kingdom of light.

While we live in the kingdom of this world, hounded by Satan, the world’s lies, and our own sinful selves, we also live with God himself—as he speaks to us through his Words and by his Spirit—to know we are cleansed of all our sin by the blood of his Son.

Jesus gives us an inheritance (not a wage of our works) that is actually a relationship with his Father.

A Daily Prayer:
O Jesus, help me to not succumb to the world’s lies of not talking about sin with my family. Help me be honest about my own sin and the sin of those in my life. And help me to boldly share the way of rescue and redemption in Jesus with them. Amen.
