Keeping Faith in God to Handle Things

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.  John 1:14

I caught myself lately listening to different news sources to try to figure out how this new year is going to play out. As soon as I started listening, I got frustrated and a bit fearful because I wondered: Is this truth or not truth that I am listening to?
What God says about himself makes me realize I am barking up the wrong tree in trying to find peace about what is coming in the new year in what people think or say. I realize that what God himself says is the critical thing for me and families and friends and the world to listen to.

God tells us his Son Jesus is full of truth. The truth about who God is, who I am, and the world that I live in.

God alone is perfectly perfect.

As soon as I find myself judging something I hear or someone I am with, I find the same yucky sin inside of me.

And God knows that, and that is so comforting, because Jesus is also full of grace. Unearned, unconditional love. Love that made God come to a manger as a frail infant to die on a cross and endure the wrath of God we all deserve.

We live in a world of lies, but we also live in God’s Kingdom. That is God’s epic truth that he gives us to live in and share!

Daily Prayer:
O Jesus, I pray when I have time with my family that I do not waste it on fear and worry that only takes them from you. Give me your heart of love to listen to them and love them. Give me wisdom to speak your words of truth and grace to them. Fill my heart with true joy and hope in who you are and what you did to save us. Amen.
