Jesus' Prayer to Protect His Children with the Truth

When I looked at my tiny kids and this big world that they lived in, every cell inside me seemed to be in tune with one purpose: protect! That passion gives me a taste of what God feels for us.

He prayed for protection for his children the night before he died to save us. Jesus’ prayer becomes our prayer as we realize what God wants to protect and how he protects it.

Jesus prayed for the protection of our souls, with truth.

His Word is truth.

Jesus asked his Father to “sanctify them with the truth -your Word is truth.”

Sanctify means to be set apart from sin and evil. Imagine the world we live in as this deep dangerous ocean full of the lies that tell us that we do not need Jesus our Savior. Our souls can drown if we believe in anything other than Jesus as our Savior. God’s Word is like a huge ship that we live in as we are in the ocean. His Word protects us from drowning because his Truth protects us from the lies of Satan. God tells us of the truth that we are all sinners and have complete salvation and forgiveness in Jesus.

Daily Prayer:
O Jesus, fill our hearts with your passion to protect our children’s souls by your truth. As much as we want to make the right decisions to raise our children, help us to never leave your Word in the dust on a shelf somewhere but to listen to you every day. Amen.
