Take Solace In Knowing How God Keeps Our Children Safe

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Put on the full armor of God,

so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Ephesians 6:10–11

I met a father who is training his tiny girl to defend herself with martial arts. It is a valid practice for a parent to involve their child in, given the current state of the world. The concern that the father of that little girl has is a taste of what God our Father has for us. God sees into eternity and knows the real enemy is way bigger than a physical attack on small children. It is the spiritual attack the devil wages on our children’s souls every day. In catchy songs with deathly lyrics. It's the school curriculum that leads them away from God’s will. It’s apathy to tragic circumstances.

God gives his children a protection against the devil’s convincing lies with the reality of his love—a love that placed his innocent Son on the cross to suffer the rejection of God and the love and life we all deserve because of our sin.

That protection is found simply and profoundly in God’s words:

  • Words of life

  • Words of love without condition

  • Words of mercy

Those words are armor for our children.

A Daily Prayer:
Parents, if you are alert for your children’s safety: give them what they need the most: the safety of God’s words of unconditional and eternal love for them in Jesus. Tell them Jesus loves them, no matter what they have done.
