Thankful For Jesus Everyday!

…there before me was a great multitude that no one could count from every nation, tribe people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:

“Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” Revelation 7:9-10

This is part of a vision of Heaven given to John by God. The countless number of people surrounding  the Lamb are wearing the white robe of his forgiveness. They are in heaven with Jesus without sadness or pain or death. As I read this, my mind starts wondering about what they must be thinking as they live in bliss that I cannot begin to imagine.

But I don’t have to try to figure out what is on their heart. God shows us in the words of their song.

The number one thing on their heart that they are thankful for is that they are saved by Jesus.

Their song grabs my heart’s attention. If the fact that they are saved occupies their hearts in heaven, why doesn’t it occupy mine?

The truth is that by faith in Jesus we have what the multitude in heaven has right now. We are saved by the blood of the Lamb. We are saved. We are with Jesus right now. And the Promise Keeper promises us that we will be with him in heaven someday.

This Thanksgiving Day is an opportunity to talk with your family about what makes you truly thankful. Use this section of scripture as a conversation starter. Let Jesus lead your family through you to see that every day is Thanksgiving Day in the heart of a believer.

A Daily Prayer:
O Jesus, let me never forget that I am saved by you and because of that I have every reason to be thankful in any circumstance. Fill my family with your Spirit to know your love for them. Amen.
